murdered on July 6, 2024 and Woodside Township, Illinois.

That evening, Sanya called 911 to report a possible intruder.

But 30 minutes after she made that call, police shot and killed Sonia in the

kitchen of her own home. How did this happen? This happen?

But Sonia Massey was more than just another victim.

Sanya Massey was a petite woman, quiet in some ways,

but with a presence that could not be overlooked.

Those soft-spoken, she had a strength that shone through her love for her family

and especially for her children. Those who knew her often spoke of her gentle nature,

but also of her fierceness.
