You know when you're out playing in the woods and hours past, it's midnight and in the summer, it's still light, and you're just playing, climbing trees, all that stuff.

For me, like, this album has been a way of trying to capture that kind of nostalgic feeling again.

The album in question is called From the Ground.

It's a new collaborative project from musicians and composers Ali Hutton and Laura

Beth Salter. Both Ali and Laura Beth have spent many years working in the Scottish folk scene

and in recent years they've started to discuss their shared concerns over climate change.

Now they've created this new work which has taken them both musically and philosophically in new

directions based on themes they've chosen which connect them to the natural world.

I'm Helen Needham and in this edition of Scotland Outdoors,

I take a wander around Glasgow Green with Ali and Laura Beth,

who told me about her musical background.

Well, I guess I started playing music

because I lived in the middle of nowhere and there was nothing to do.

But mainly because my folks play, so just for fun.

They play it and they used to run a session in our local pub every Friday night.

And I was more than welcome to be at that from a young age, maybe like seven or eight years old.

It was just kind of a natural thing to want to be part of it.
