And, man, a lot of, a lot of exciting things happening in the city of Starkville as we welcome you into this Friday edition of My Dogr-R-Barkin for the Friday Extra show. And, man, you know, with all the momentum that Starfle has, I think something that has captured a lot of people's attention. Those in Starville

and those honestly looking on their on their way from the outside is the Starkville Derby

that has taken place over the last couple of years. And so we're so excited to bring in Alden Thornhill

to give us some information about this great event that is taking place in the city of Starfle.

Man, Alden, when is this taking place, man?

And tell us about it.

Yeah, Landon, May 3rd, first Saturday in May, right there in the middle of the Cotton District.

You know, a yearly tradition that's certainly become a big dog in the area.

And across the country, honestly, with the folks we have coming from as far as new york city and arizona um and then the

the tens of thousands watching online you know that's you know people tune into this thing

it's pretty crazy and you know we always appreciate our media folks like you guys uh inviting

us on to talk about this tow wagon good time.

So one thing I'd love, and we'll get into some specifics for this actual day, but I would love to just know where in the world did this come from, man?

Like, where did this thought come to say, hey, let's have this event in the city of Starville that's so unique and fun.

Obviously, drawing attention from those far away, as you said.

Yeah, so we had, you know, Starvel had always had a spring event, you know,

and they had moved the arts festival to the spring, to the fall.

And I said, we need something to go along with baseball. And, you know, I grew up going

Super Bulldog weekend. You'd have all kind of stuff going on. And that had kind of fallen off. And I said,

you know, it needs something that really spotlights a really unique area of Starkville in the

Cotton District and then helps out our hospitality friends and then gives back. back and uh you know i thought i have a wieny dog i was sitting

two brothers and i was like god it'd be really funny to shut down the street and just raced these dogs
