Hi everyone, it's Sophia and welcome back to work in progress.

Today's guest is a returning favorite of the podcast, Supreme Court lawyer and Georgetown Law Professor Neil Ketal.

Neil achieved tenure at Georgetown at breakneck speed, served as National Security Advisor to the Justice Department,

and is a winner of the Edmund Randolph Award.

But the achievement that garnered Neil well-deserved renown was his first Supreme Court argument,

in which he defended the basic constitutional rights of fair trial and anti-tourcher to prisoners at Guantanamo Bay,

that victory led to the upholding of the Geneva conventions around the world.

And I think this moment speaks to the core of Neil's character.

He is a person who believes more than anything in the spirit of the law and in justice as a blind force greater than ourselves.

In our last episode together, Neil said that he felt he had a duty to act in the common good.

And I can't think of anything that exemplifies that better than extending basic decency and human rights to everyone,

regardless of their charges background or ideologies.

Neil continues to teach law, uplift aspiring attorneys, and put together arguments for the Supreme Court.

He even has his own podcast, Courtside, which breaks down major litigation, political issues, and legal news into bite-sized portions.
