42 is the number that was worn by Jackie Robinson,

and yesterday was Jackie Robinson Day all around Major League Baseball,

an initiative that's been going on since right at the beginning,

I would assume, of my career.

It's an initiative meant not just to have people think about Jackie Robinson on April 15th,

but to talk about him on April 16th.

And I wanted to do the honor of talking about Jackie Robinson.

I wanted to remind you of his core values, remind you of what he did, regardless of your

politics, regardless of your view of what is happening in the White House, what is happening

with diversity, equity, and inclusion.

It doesn't matter to me, actually, what you think, whether you are

in favor of eliminating all those programs or in favor of not just keeping them, but enhancing

them. It's your choice. What is not your choice, let me say that nicer. What I believe

shouldn't be your choice is to recognize and

appreciate greatness. Greatness in artists and actors and business people and parents and teachers

and first responders. Greatness in you. We all have a bit of greatness somewhere.
