Hello and welcome to another episode of Not Too Deep. I'm your host Grace Hellbeck. I am thrilled

0:05.3

to let you know that we have Nick Dodani on today's episode. You might know him as the heed in a

0:10.3

typical on Netflix. It just ended. We talk about that entire experience, what he's learned from

0:16.0

the whole process, and more recently you might know him as Jared, the best friend of Ben Platt

0:22.4

in the movie version of Dear Evan Hansen. We talk about what it was like to feel like a

0:26.8

imposter on that set, having no real music experience. And what it was like to film and get the role

0:34.1

in the middle of the pandemic. We talk a lot about mental health. We also talk about his

0:40.0

Reforier in college into the world of politics, which obviously led him into the comedy and acting

0:45.4

position that he's in now. And we also talk about his desire to want to do a potentially more

0:50.3

stand-up. I hope you all encourage him to do so. And we get his hot take on gay wizards. It's a really

0:55.9

wonderful episode. I enjoyed this conversation so much. I hope you do. Enjoy this episode of Not Too

1:15.1

in total. But I'm so excited to talk to you as someone, okay, I ask this question a lot of

1:22.2

people that I think are kind of like multi-hyphenate artists. How do you describe what you do?

1:32.6

Oh, that is a great question. I actually don't think I've ever been asked. You can say it's a

1:36.6

bad question too, because I know it puts you on the spot immediately. No, I mean I don't think I've

1:42.0

ever been asked that question. Okay. Other than by my parents who for a long time didn't understand

1:47.4

what I did. Yeah. How do you explain podcast toast? Internet sensation. I would say that I

2:03.0

I mean in the most basic sense, I'm an actor, I'm a writer, I'm a comedian. I do funny things to

2:08.4

make people laugh. I agree with that from an outside perspective. I'm curious about your journey.

2:17.6

Talk to me about how you got here. You're from Texas originally. How did you end up in Los

2:24.9

Angeles? How do we get into entertainment? Yeah, so I was born in Dallas, but I grew up in Arizona.
