Everybody, it's David Pluff. Welcome to Campaign HQ. We're now in the middle of October,

0:11.1

so Election Day is certainly looming. And we are going to spend our time today and

0:18.0

move our attention to North Carolina. A state that many of you have got to know through

0:23.6

the years is it's been a battleground presidential state, you know, some really tight center

0:28.0

races, and a really important state again. It's the only state with a marquee center

0:34.7

race that doesn't have a governor's race. Governors here are not elected in presidential

0:39.6

years, so you may remember Governor Cooper won reelection in a tough race in 2020 as Joe

0:45.8

Biden, you know, narrowly lost the state. So we're going to focus on the United States

0:50.2

center race today. Sherry Beasley versus Bud, which is a really close tied race, about

0:56.5

45, 45 roughly in most of the public polling. So we're going to talk to Travis Brem, who

1:01.6

is the campaign manager for Sherry Beasley. Travis's longtime Democratic operative spent

1:06.0

last cycle in New Mexico with Senator Lujan, has spent time at some of the national party

1:11.8

committees, has spent a lot of time fundraising. That's kind of where his started politics came

1:17.6

from. So we're going to go deep into the center race, which doesn't get as much attention

1:20.8

as, you know, maybe the Arizona race or the Georgia race or the Pennsylvania race in

1:25.2

part because Bud is kind of running a very secretive closeted campaign compared to some

1:30.4

of these marquee folks like Walker and Oz and Masters, but it's a close race. And North

1:35.4

Carolina has his historically been close. We're going to get an overview of the entire

1:39.0

state from Will Doran from the news and observer, who's covered North Carolina politics for

1:44.5

a long time. And there's a lot of other things going on in North Carolina. We're going

1:47.5

to talk to Will about this US center race, but we're also going to talk to him about the

1:51.5

state legislative races. And North Carolina has partisan races for the Supreme Court. So
