It looks back at a secret medical conference, organized in 1955 about a taboo subject, abortion.

Abortion was illegal back then and this conference was one of the first steps on the road to legalizing it through Roe v. Wade, which of course is in the news again.

Last month, a leaked draft opinion indicated the Supreme Court would overturn Roe v. Wade and the court's final decision is expected this month.

So here's some backstory from Not Passed It.

Hey you guys, we found something really cool for this week's episode.

It's this nearly 70 year old document and reading it as like peering through a hole in the wall back to a very specific moment in time.

It's a book that was published in 1958.

We found a copy of it on eBay for something like 40 bucks.

It's out of print, hard to come by.

It's torn and shabby looking.

Smells pretty old too.

But you know the phrase don't judge a book by its cover?

Well, that's definitely true here because this book, with its bland, tan dust jacket, arguably changed the course of history.

Its characters are rebels, they're subversive.

Some of them even admit to committing crimes.

And the creator of the book was something of a hero.

The book is basically the transcript of a medical conference that happened in 1955.
