Royal biographer Omid Scobie was thrust into the spotlight when he began writing about Prince Harry and Meghan. His first book Finding Freedom, about the Sussexes’ and their split from the Royal Family, made headlines across the world. And – his stories about the Royals are once again dominating the front pages following the release of his new book Endgame. Omid tells James how he came to write the biggest story in town - and why he has become part of the story.

0:00.0 | This is a global player original podcast. |
0:19.8 | Hello and welcome to full disclosure, a podcast project conceived to allow me to spend more time than I'd get on the radio with interesting people. |
0:27.3 | And, well, I mean, that description fits my guest every week. |
0:31.2 | But this week, Omid Scobie, it's particularly pertinent because you are currently, I suppose, the biggest story in town. |
0:36.9 | Well, I guess I've written the biggest story in town. Well, I guess have written the biggest story in town. But yeah, unfortunately somehow |
0:42.8 | became part of it. For people who don't know, Omid is the author latterly of Endgame. But prior |

1:13.3 | But I think people when they actually get the book, they realise that Harry and Megan aren't even mentioned until page 146 or something. |

1:35.2 | relevancy and role of the monarchy. And I felt like a lot of the coverage, particularly coming from |
1:40.2 | within the Royal Press Pack, doesn't really do much of a service to the public who are having |
1:45.2 | those conversations and questions. So I wanted to provide something that not only sort of pull |
1:50.3 | together everything from recent years, but also analysed them and added new information filled in |
1:57.1 | the gaps. Just so when we are having those conversations, we actually have sort of all |
2:02.2 | the information to hand. I'm fascinated by the notion of being both in and outside the press pack. |
2:08.3 | I guess now more outside than in, but at the beginning of your coverage on this patch, very much, |
2:13.0 | you know, having to abide by the same obligations and requirements that everybody else did. |
