0:10.5 | The Exodus story has three stages. We've been calling them the road out, the road between, and the road in. |
0:17.4 | The road out of slavery is the story told in Exodus. Ancient Israel are slaves in ancient Egypt, |
0:24.1 | but God hears their cries and he sends them a deliverer to confront the Pharaoh with 10 plagues. |
0:29.6 | Egypt is decreated 10 times over through the plagues. And so there's a deliverance out of Egypt |
0:35.3 | on the night of Passover. That's what we've been calling the road out. |
0:39.3 | Now every year, Israelites celebrate the night they were rescued out of Egypt by having a Passover |
0:44.3 | meal. |
0:45.3 | And during this meal, it's customary to sing Psalms 113 through 118. |
0:50.3 | This is called the Passover halel. |
0:52.3 | And singing it helps us remember the significance of God calling us on the way. |
0:57.6 | And it's almost certainly what Jesus and his disciples sang during the night of Passover in Jerusalem. |
1:03.4 | So let's put ourselves in that mindset, too. |
1:05.7 | What would it be like to be Jesus disciples on that fateful night singing through these poems. |
