Hi and welcome back to Get Fit Guy. This is Kevin Don. Now, a few weeks ago, I received an email

0:10.3

asking me to talk about something called BPC 157. Now, this is what's called a peptide,

0:19.8

and a lot of these have been pushed on algorithms and platforms such as Instagram, usually to more mature users who may be interested in their claimed benefits for recovery.

0:32.2

This week, I'll talk a little bit about peptides, what they are, and why you may or may not want to consider using them.

0:38.9

Now, I myself first heard of these peptides in 2018 when someone in Iceland wanted to sell me some

0:46.1

MK67. They all have these wonderful names, but it's commonly called ebutamorin.

0:54.8

Now, as you may well imagine, if you're a long-time listener here, I do not view my own

1:00.2

fitness as anything but being healthy and free of disease.

1:05.1

It may well be the case that in some situations, such as the onset of illness, that external interventions like pharmaceuticals may be

1:13.5

required. But I find the idea of using them to try and just gain something for myself to be a little

1:20.6

unethical. Philosophically speaking, I look at many of the so-called biohackers and how it's leading us into transhumanism or into

1:30.5

this kind of slippery slope, which is a type of fallacy, actually called the slippery slope

1:37.3

fallacy.

1:38.4

But I can't help wonder what end point we get to with this kind of starting point.

1:43.2

If one is willing to buy black market

1:45.9

pharmaceuticals to stave off some wrinkles or to respond to weight training as if you were 20 years

1:52.1

younger, then where do we go? Transplants, neural chips, cybernetic eyes, robotic hips. To me,

2:00.1

biohacking is the gateway to a post-human society.

2:05.0

If anyone wants to email me to talk about the philosophy of transhumanism, please do so.

2:10.4

But in the meantime, let's crack on. So if you've been hearing about peptides, chances are it's the more common ones, which would be Ibupamorin and BPC 157. These compounds grab attention for their potential benefits,

2:25.6

but like anything in the world of supplementation and performance enhancing, they do come

2:30.4

with their own set of pros and cons. So let's break it down in an easy to digest, I hope, way.
