Look, we are right in the middle of a climate crisis as we are speaking to each other here.

You know, the last four years were the hottest since global temperatures were recorded.

It recently hit 100 degrees in the Arctic for the first time in history.

The entire west coast is on fire.

The skies were blood orange in Northern California and Oregon last week, and on the east East Coast we just had simultaneous hurricanes.

Yet for so long the climate crisis has been treated by the media, the politicians, the corporations, and even the public at large is something that is going

to impact us in the future, like some far-off event.

Yet we are seeing the devastating effects of the climate crisis right now as it is ravaging our communities.

As a climate scientist, Peter, who has been ringing the alarm for years, how frustrating

is it for you to see such complacency and cognitive dissonance when it comes to climate change?

Yeah, as you were doing that introduction, I was getting more and more frustrated. And that was the first thing I wanted to say.

I've been doing this for 15 years trying to ring the alarm bell.

And until a few years ago, I just got nothing but grief

for doing that. You know, will be like you're being an

alarmist and you know shut up you know and stay in your lane scientists and all that

kind of stuff and here I am like looking living through it in real time, but even worse, looking at scientific

projections and being all too aware that the future is going to get far worse than this.
