Summary

Friends, on this Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time, we have the first reading from the prophet Jeremiah in tandem with the Gospel from Luke’s Sermon on the Plain. And both readings draw out a basic feature of biblical spirituality—namely, the ordering of the heart, that deepest organizing principle of one’s entire life, to the Lord.

Remember last week we had Isaiah juxtaposed with the Gospel of Luke, and each author bringing out essential features of the spiritual life.

Now, I know Jeremiah is somewhat morose figure, and that can sound perhaps a little dark, but let's unpack it.

It doesn't mean here, you know, we never trust anybody and be suspicious of all people. No. Trust, trust here.
