common cause with people for whom it's a sort of lifestyle choice

as well as something they campaign on.

But it is back to having a tolerant conversation about it.

For our children's sake or my grandchildren's sake, it has to be part of the conversation.

has shifted in UK politics for recent years.

Baroness Jenkins, thank you very much for joining the Green Lights podcast.

You were signed up to participate in Vignaw, which is, of course, the month-long challenge

in January to remove animal products of your diet and eat plant-based.

What motivated you to sign up to this challenge?

Well, I've done it before.

I mean, I think I'm what you would call a

flexitarian anyway. I think I've weaned myself off animal products over quite a number of years.

So I'm happy to support it. I am feeling a little bit embarrassed because last year I think I was

far stricter than I have been this year. But anyway, I'm fessing up.
