Anyway, there's this one scene in past lives where a married couple is lying in bed in their

Manhattan apartment and he's a Jewish guy from the city.

She is a Korean-born immigrant who has lived in the state since she

was 12 years old and she speaks English most of the time except when she's talking to

her mom when she returns to the Korean of her childhood.

She's lived in America now longer than South Korea,

and she's more Western than she is Eastern in many ways.

But, as her husband explains in this scene, she sometimes talks in her sleep, and when she does, it's always in Korean.
