Turn with me this morning, please, to Scripture we looked at last week in 1 Peter, the first chapter.

1 Peter 1.

We looked in verse 18 and read, he said, you know that you were not redeemed with corruptible things as silver and gold from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers.

But with the precious blood of Christ as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.

Let me read the NCV, the New Century Version.

He said, you know in the past you lived in a worthless way.

A way passed down from people who lived before you but you were saved from that useless life

did you hear these words worthless useless you were bought not with something that ruins like gold or silver, but you were bought,

redeemed, means to buy or buy back, with the precious blood of Christ, who was the pure

and perfect lamb.

The complete English version says you weren't rescued by things as silver and gold that don't last forever.

Silver and gold, money, is temporary.

Everybody say that out loud.

Money is temporary.

Gold is temporary. Gold is temporary.

Somebody said, well, diamonds are forever.

Actually, they're not.

Neither is gold.

It's all temporary.

We's translation, this says, It's all temporary.
