If that name sounds familiar, that could be because we recently had Shail as a guest

here on How to Save a Planet.

That was for our episode about energy storage.

Shail is a climate tech investor, and his podcast Catalyst looks at climate change from

that perspective.

What technologies are waiting on the horizon that could potentially help us address climate

change, and which of those technologies are worth investing in and scaling up?

On this episode, Shail takes a look at solar geoengineering.

That's the idea that we can cool the planet by blocking a small fraction of sunlight before

it reaches Earth.

Now, this is a very controversial idea.

You don't hear a ton of climate scientists advocating for solar geoengineering.

We here at How to Save a Planet will not be issuing a call to action to go up into space

and fiddle with the amount of sunlight entering the Earth system.

Please don't do that.

But I think there's value in learning about these ideas, because it reminds us for better

or worse how much power we humans have to radically reshape life on Earth.
