I'm Sam, your host this week, that you can find me every Wednesday hosting the Appalachian

Spooky Hour podcast, where we discuss all the haunts, horrors, and mysteries of the Appalachian

region. I'm especially excited to be with you for this episode of Sudopod, as the story takes place

right here in my regular haunting ground of Kentucky. Get ready, Spooky's, because this is a good one.

Our author this week is Todd Keesling. Todd is a writer and designer of the horrific and the strange.

His books include Devil's Creek, which was a 2020 Bram Stoker award finalist, for superior

achievement in a novel, as well as scan lines, the final reconciliation, and most recently his

collection, Cold, Black, and Infinite, Stories of the horrific and strange. A pair of his earlier

works were recipients of the University of Kentucky's Oswald Research and Creativity Prize for creative

writing, in both 2002 and 2005. In his second novel, The Limital Man, was an indie book award

finalist and horror and suspense in 2013. He currently resides in Pennsylvania with his family.

The story you're about to hear, Midnight in the Southland, was previously published in

Limital Spaces, an anthology of dark, speculative fiction by Cemetery Gates Media in 2021.

Our narrator this week is Dave Robinson. Dave is a storyteller who's been captivated by

tales and legends his entire life. He's contributed vocal fabulosity to dozens of audio drama and
