Williams.

This story first appeared in the August 1928 issue of Weird Tales. Author Thomas Lanier Williams

three known by his pen name Tennessee Williams was an American playwright and

screenwriter celebrated for his contributions to 20th century American drama.

The Vengeance of Netacris was his first professional story published when he was just 17.

Williams catapulted to fame at the age of 33 with the premiere of his hit play the glass menagerie

followed by a streetcar named Desire cat on a hot tin roof sweet bird of youth and the night of the iguana

His success made him one of the most notable

gay men in the mid-century American public eye, but his fundamental decades were

marked by battles with depression, alcoholism, and drug addiction.

In 1979, four years before his death, Williams was inducted into the American Theater

Hall of Fame.
