by Chelsea Davis. Welcome back, everyone. This is Sudapod, the weekly horror podcast. I'm

Alistair, your host, and Chelsea is your producer. Our story this week continues our 1929 Public

Domain Showcase, and comes to us from John Russell.

John Russell was an American writer and screenwriter. He wrote for the New York City News

Association News Agency and then later for the New York Tribune. He wrote the screenplay for

Bo jest, which he's probably best known for, and several other films, and as an author,

he was best known for his short stories, originally written for a wide range of magazines

and newspapers and then collected in books. He also wrote The Society Wolf, published in 1910,

which was written under the truly fantastic pen name, Luke Thrice. Our narrator this week is the excellent Maui Threve.

Maui was born in the swamps of South Georgia, where he was orphaned as a child by a pack

of wild dogs.

He was adopted by a family of gaiters who named him Maui Threv, which in their language means

mechanical frog music.

He was taught the ways of swamp music and the
