I ordinarily like to talk about topics, which I think will have a broad appeal to our listeners,

which include people who practice critical care of medicine on the attending level of residents and fellows, as well as nursing and pre-hospital providers. And I get a lot of email from around the world, and I certainly thank you for that.

The topic that I'm going to talk about today, I hope is a rare and unusual topic, and I hope it's a topic

that none of us ever really have to deal with, and that is the issue of what to do following

a radiation exposure, particularly in regards to a nuclear attack.

You may have been watching the news last week and a weapons of mass

destruction commission from the U.S. government launched a rather sobering report

commenting that they felt that the likelihood of a nuclear or biological terrorist attack within the United States was likely,

certainly in the next couple of years.

Today, the WMD Commission sounded alarm about the possibility to prevent such attack.
