Summary

Radio Rahim sits down with Talib Kweli and Jasmin Leigh to talk all things boxing, including how Rahim pivoted his travel and boxing show, during the pandemic, to the Luminary Original podcast, "Til This Day," and how he’s managed to become one of the most effective boxing commentators in the sport, despite not being an ex-fighter, nor being, as Kweli puts it, “an old white man.” Radio Rahim also talks about the massive importance of Mike Tyson, and what it was like spending time with Pacquiao right at the height of his career. Radio also shares his list top five boxers of all time.

Did you start it so we're good? Till this day started out as a boxing traveling show,

0:53.2

but then the pandemic hit. Can you talk to us about the pivot and what do you see as the point

of the show now? Well, as 2020 hit everybody different, we, Talib Kuala Lee and myself, many other

incredible artists in fact, found ourselves welcomed to Yellow Springs, Ohio, to figure

away through the pandemic. I had a show that we had just signed and agreed to do a mere few weeks,

1:23.9

not even a few weeks, probably the first week of March. So by, you know, third week of March,

their canceling NBA games. I was headed to New York to sit in on an XM show because the host was sick.

These guys have had me on the show many times. I got a great boxing show on XM. This kind of thing I

1:51.1

and they end up canceling that shoot. I'm furious. I'm like, man, come on. Like I didn't even have to

1:56.3

come back to LA. I could be in New York right now. And as that day progressed, it was the first

2:03.9

time I was like becoming aware even of COVID or things like it's something that's happening in

2:10.3

the background. Yeah, but I'm not paying attention to it. And then so the NBA getting canceled was when

2:15.1

most people I know. I was like, Oh, what is that? Okay. So I wasn't just going to New York for

2:21.2

an XM show. That was a great opportunity during a fight week, even the best time to be on a boxing show.

2:29.1

But the fight that was happening that coming Saturday was a jeopardy. And then that same night,

2:34.6

that fight got canceled. Like, ah, well, that's my budget to go to LA. I mean, to go to New York. So
