Hi there, everybody. Happy Friday. It's 4 o'clock in New York. As we come on the air, Donald

Trump is talking. Now, that isn't a rare thing. He usually is. But where he's doing it and what he's

saying is quite extraordinary. He's talking right now at the Justice Department, a move that's in and of

itself, of not unprecedented than exceedingly rare among American presidents across our history.

American presidents have, until now, taking great pains to uphold the appearance of an

independent rule of law, an independent justice department.

That means American presidents rarely set foot inside the hallowed halls of what they call main justice.

No less, stand there and give a rambling, lengthy speech that sounds a whole lot more like

a political rally speech than something you would say while standing in the

great hall of the Justice Department. But here we are. Today's speech is being billed by the

White House as a quote, law and order speech, but Trump has spent at least the last few minutes

raging and ranting and pounding his chest against perceived political enemies, repeating to a roomful of attorneys and investigators,

his favorite detached from reality conspiracy theory, the so-called weaponization of law enforcement.

The irony, perhaps, is that the president is standing in the halls of the Justice Department after

being the only president in our history to ever be the subject of not one but two Justice

Department investigations.

New York Times reminds us this, that Mr. Trump was, quote, once a target for prosecution

by the Justice Department, Times describing Trump's speech at the Justice Department this way, quote, once a target for prosecution by the Justice Department. Times describing Trump's

vindication as it is a friendly first visit to a key cabinet department. Quote, if he no longer

speech to show he has taken political possession of a more valuable real estate just up the street
