If there was ancient civilizations, ancient cultures, and they were technologically advanced,

let's not assume that they looked anything like we do.

I mean, we built a whole civilization based on fossil fuels.

Is that the only way to build a civilization?

And I think the answer is no, it's not.

I'm looking at our fossil fuel use as a very effective and powerful interim transitionary phase.

But I think that there are technologies on the horizon that could be recoveries of things

that people in the past already knew about.

And it's kind of like when a lot of the archaeologists are looking into deep history,

which to me goes back beyond the Holocene.

The Holocene is the last roughly 11,000 years post-ice age.

But when we're looking into deep history, we're really looking into a mirror.

We're looking for something that looks like us, and it may not look like us.

How have you been?

Oh, I've been mostly good, traveling a lot and getting weary from being on the road.

So I've been back about two weeks now and just kind of, it takes me a week.

When I spend a month on the road, it takes me a week to recover.

I'm the same way, whether it's like just the exhaustion or the travel, the work that you did,

or, you know,

being away from the norm. So, so I feel the same. I'm catching up on some sleep myself.

I'm not quite as adaptive roughing it as I used to be. I could sleep, you know, anywhere pretty much

under a picnic table during a rainstorm, which I actually did one time when I was stuck out on the Olympic Peninsula.
