Good to have you here. It's Monday, April 14th. We just wrapped up day five in the Lori Daybell trial.

She's on trial for the murder of her fourth husband, Charles Vallow.

We had a full day of testimony. Before we jump in, the judge did talk about the second trial

regarding the attempted murder of Brandon Boudreau, and they are aiming for openings to take

place starting June 2nd. The first witness was Dr. Derek Bumgartner. He's the medical examiner

who did the autopsy on Charles. That took place July 13th, 2019. And we saw a lot of

photos from his autopsy. The first was a full face photo. They also do height and weight,

and Charles was just under six feet and around 207 pounds.

He had no facial injuries, no head injuries, no abrasions or contusions on his face.

And the state asked, he did not show any signs of being shot and then falling straight back.

They show a full body shot.

You see the two bullet holes. The first is in the mid-sternum,

just right in the center of the chest almost. And the other was on the left upper abdomen,

kind of diagonal from the belly button just to right underneath where those bottom ribs end.

On his hands, right hands had no abrasions. On the left hand, there was one abrasion on the pinky side on that lower knuckle. He also had blood transfer on his hands. Last week,

one of the EMTs testified that it's likely when he was shot in the chest first,

with him being left-handed,

he put his hand to his chest, and that's how that blood transferred.

As far as his legs, he did have abrasions and contusions on both knees that occurred at or near the time of death.

For the center chest shot, the entrance notes abrasions consistent with

stippling, which is where gunpowder strikes the skin, either partially or unburned.
