What you know, alibiers. Welcome to another episode of Pretty Lies and Alibis. I'm Gigi. It's Tuesday, February 11th. We had our first full day in the Rose Petal murder trial here in Greenville, South Carolina versus Zachary Hughes. He's been charged with killing Christina Parcell. As you guys know, we had a little blip last month when we went to start the trial.

Not enough potential jurors who were summoned showed up. This time, we got enough, got a jury sworn in,

and had openings in our first witnesses today. Before the jury was brought in today, the judge ruled the

child abuse materials could not come into this trial, which is a huge blow to Zachary Hughes's defense.

It definitely would have benefited him, potentially had it come in.

In talking to people at the courthouse and just locally who know the case, they do feel she is much less of a victim given the fact that her own minor daughter, her daughter's friend, as well as animals, were abused at the hands of her and her fiance Bradley Post, but it is what it is and it's not coming in.

The jury was brought in. They are a very

diverse group, age-wise, mixture of male and female, very attentive today. I didn't see

anybody trailing off. They were transfixed on the testimony. For openings, the prosecution started with this case is about the murder

of Christina Parcell, and we will prove Zachary Hughes murdered her. He's also charged with harassment,

burglary in the first degree, as well as murder. They talk about the custody dispute that took

place from the time the victim's daughter

was three up until the age of nine, and the child's father, John Mello, took their child to Italy,

and Christina fought to get her back. How does Zachary come in this case? He had a friendship

with John Mello, and Zachary inserted himself into the custody

battle. Zachary sent nude photos of Christina to harass her. At the end of the case, you'll find he

committed cold-blooded murder. And that was it for their openings. And the defense didn't do

openings. They're going to refer to their case. The first witness

was Sarah Young. She works for the Greenville County Sheriff's Office in the 911 Dispatch Center.

She pulls calls for solicitors and officers. They play that 911 call. We know Bradley Post,

Christina's fiance, who is currently incarcerated for those child

abuse material charges, made that call and said he's at his fiance's house. There's a weird
