If you're new here, I've never read this before, we're going to read it together.

It's all about recovered memory therapy, how we create false memories.

I, just to start this off with a little bit of a tangent, one of my favorite, you know,

psychological stories or whatever, and I'm certain I'm going to butcher this is

there's a group of I don't know 30 people and they're taking part of one of those

psychological studies and the professor's like okay 30 people

what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna show you a picture and so it's like I don't know it's like

a garden scene a garden party or whatever and people are doing this

photograph and then what we're gonna do is a very long-term study 30 people

look at this photograph memorize it it, and we're going to seal it in an envelope and leave

it in there for 10 years.

And so they all do that, they all seal this envelope, they sign their name on the back or whatever

so that they can be sure that the envelope hasn't been opened at any point

during this 10 years and then the envelope's they were all tucked away.

And the professor says every year you're all going to come back here and you're going to describe

the photograph to me

from the best ability of your memory and then after and they do this every year

and they come back after 10 years or whatever and the professor says open the envelope and they're all convinced

that it's a different photo that the professor has somehow tricked them and

swapped out the photo and it's all to do with just the weakness of human memory

...
