recent book, Revenge of the Tipping Point, which revisits his 2000 bestseller, The Tipping

Point. You know him from his great podcast revisionist history, which we just recently did a

collab with. So you know that Malcolm is incredibly intelligent, articulate, thoughtful,

but you may not know that he has some very strong opinions about food and drink that he is not afraid to share in pointed terms.

Whether you're a longtime Malcolm Gladwell fan or newer to his work, I think you're going to love this episode.

Elmira, Ontario. I did. Elmira hosts what claims to be the world's largest one-day

maple syrup festival. This is true. Can you tell me about that?

For some reason that I don't know, this little town that I grew up in,

decided it was going to own maple syrup in the way that Los Angeles owns the Oscars.

And I went through years of these, and the point of the Maple's Earth Festival always alluded me.

It's April, which is a very nasty time of year in that part of the world.

It's like slushy, it could get really cold, it could be freezing rain.

Did you, as a kid, did you make the maple taffy in the snow? No. Do you know what
