with me his longtime assistant, associate, and co-conspirator, DeVita Goldman. Welcome to the

podcast, DeVita. Thank you. So how far do you go back with Father Richard? To 1987.

That's pre-Fother Richard.

It was Pastor Richard James.

How did you fall into his various preoccupations and enterprises?

I was a parishioner at the Lutheran Church, where he was not really on staff, but doing some preaching.

And one day after the service, I was sitting in the front pew.

He came up to me. I didn't know he knew who I was and asked me if I'd be interested in interviewing for a job with him.

And I said, yes, and that's how I got it.

What was he doing in 86? What were his enterprises?

He was with the Rockford Institute in Illinois.

He was writing a forum letter, a Lutheran letter.

And that was, he had been doing that for, since the 70s?

I'm not sure, but for quite a while.

And that got mailed out weekly?

Well, it got mailed out whenever he did it.

Oh, right, okay.

And so that was something you subscribed to. Oh, right, okay. That's when it got mailed out.

And so that was something you subscribed to.
