Congressman Dan Goldman of New York is in his first term and has already seen a lot.

On September 30th, he was among the Democrats who helped the House pass a short-term funding bill to keep the government

open.

A week later, on October 7th in Tel Aviv, Congressman Goldman and his family found themselves

sheltering in their hotel stairwell as air raid sirens ogered the worst

terror attack ever on the Israeli people.

Today, Israel is at war and the House has a new speaker.

In this wide-ranging conversation first recorded on October 31st for Washington Post Live,

Congressman Dan Goldman explains why Hamas must be removed from Gaza.

This is not any effort by Israel or the United States

to harm innocent Palestinians.

In fact, removing Hamas will be to the benefit of the Palestinian people.

And that's what I think gets lost here. This has nothing to do with genocide. This has nothing to do with ethnic cleansing. This has nothing to do with genocide. This has nothing to do with ethnic cleansing.

This has nothing to do with occupation, colonization, apartheid, any of that stuff.
