Hello, everyone. Welcome to Slash Film Daily. Today is Wednesday, November 6th, 2024.

0:05.0

My name is Ben Pearson. I'm an editor at slashfilm.com. And today marks the one-year anniversary

0:10.5

of the return of Slashfilm Daily. I consider myself extremely fortunate to be able to have this

0:16.4

direct line to you all every day and to host this podcast and create a place where we can try to

0:21.8

gather and better understand the entertainment and pop culture that we love and care about.

0:26.7

I love the challenge of putting together a show every day.

0:29.5

And although the high volume nature of this show means that oftentimes it feels like we're

0:33.5

putting the train tracks down in front of us a millisecond before going over them. It's my favorite part of my job.

0:39.6

I want to take this opportunity to thank you all for listening.

0:43.8

Thank you for writing emails to us with great questions that help inspire conversations.

0:48.7

Thank you for messaging me on Instagram or blue sky or threads to say something about the show. Thank you for

0:55.6

engaging with SlashFaM Daily in any way. It means a lot to me, and I hope to keep hearing from you

1:02.0

for as long as we're able to keep this thing going. Unfortunately, today also marks the start of

1:08.2

great uncertainty about the future direction of this country. This is not a

1:14.0

politics podcast, but the election last night has the potential to reshape many of our lives

1:18.8

in ways that I don't think we're able to fully comprehend yet. There are plenty of places where

1:24.5

you can hear people who are much smarter than me talk about the

1:27.5

absolutely dire implications of what just happened. So I'm not going to turn this into some kind

1:32.1

of galvanizing speech or anything, mostly because I'm personally finding it extremely difficult

1:37.8

to have any hope right now. But I know a lot of you listening to this are hurting and you're scared and you're disgusted and you're angry.

1:48.1

And I just wanted to say that as isolating as those feelings are, you're not alone.

1:54.5

We're with you.
