0:44.3	So we're in the book of Revelation, but we are also in little letters within the big book here.

0:53.0	It wasn't the only thing we did, but we got up to and through one letter, which was to the church in Ephesus. We've got six more letters to go. Yep, that's right. And with each of these letters to these individual congregations, or maybe you could even say they were individual house churches within a particular
1:11.7	location. That's probably more often than not the case in these early days. In each of these,
1:18.5	you're going to see a similar pattern where you get most of the time some commendations from Jesus
1:23.6	about the things that he's happy to see going on in his church. And yet you're also going to
1:29.3	see some warnings. You're going to see some calls to repentance in each of these churches, which
1:36.0	again just goes to show that really nothing changes in the history of the church. As much as
1:42.2	every congregation might have something going for them that
1:45.6	is real good and in line with what God desires for his people, at the same time, we ought not
1:51.7	be surprised when we come to find out that each congregation has its issues, has its problems.
1:57.2	And that is certainly the case with the church in Smyrna that we're going to be talking about
2:02.2	here beginning in verse 8. It says, and to the angel of the church in Smyrna write the words of the
2:08.8	first and the last who died and came to life. I know your tribulation and your poverty, but you
2:16.6	are rich. And the slander of those who say that they
