for probably the first time in my life. Normally when I lose my voice, it's from in the old days,

it would be shouting on the street, and then later it would be staying up too late and partying.

On this occasion, I've done nothing wrong. I don't even feel ill. It's just gone. Apologies.

It's in a slightly worse shape than it could be because two nights ago I did the warm up for a very exciting

television program and had to do three times longer than I normally would with this croaky voice

thinking, I won't pull this gig. I'll just go in and do it.

It's only 10 or 15 minutes.

And then I ended up doing loads and loads of time because an incredibly famous person was pissing about backstage.
