Please do not suffer in silence. Artemis Ogletree was just one of three children born to his parents, Leon and Ruby Ogletree.

His siblings and he were born in sequential years, with his sister Eleanor, leading the pack, born in 1913, followed

by brothers Leon Jr. in 1914, and finally Artemis in 1915.

The Ogletree family would live in Florida for a few years, where Artemis had been born,

but during his childhood would move around sporadically throughout the southeast.

After leaving Florida,

the family set their sights on New Orleans, Louisiana, and then followed that up with a move

to Augusta, Georgia. Eventually though, in Artemis' teenage years, the family would finally

settle for good in Birmingham, Alabama. As a youth, Artemis' parents constantly found him buried in some book.

Having had an active imagination since he was a kid, Artemis always envisioned himself

somewhere else.
