Joshua chapter 1, verse 8.

This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night,

so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it.

For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

Oh, this is such a good verse that summarizes so much of what we've seen, especially in

Deuteronomy, but all throughout the first five books of the Old Testament.

And now, as we transition into, God's people are about to go into the promised land,

we have this verse that summarizes what God's word does

in our lives and why it is necessary for us in order to experience life. This book of the law

shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night.

Just think about what that would look like in your life. For God's word to not depart from your

mouth. Think about it. That means it's on your mind all the time. What comes out of your mouth is

what's on your mind, that God's word is on your mind

all the time because you're meditating on it, day and night, not just reading it, not

just checking off a box, but soaking it in, enjoying it, learning from it, applying it

to your life so that you may be careful to do according to all that's written in it.
