It's actually quite unlike anything we've ever seen before.

A giant hairy creature, part ape, part man.

In Larkness, a 24-mile-long bottomless lake in the highlands of Scotland.

It's a creature known as the Loch Ness Monster.

It's a creature known as the science show about monsters.

It's been another rough week here at Monster House Manor.

Last week we said goodbye to our friend and colleague Joe Nicol.

And this week, it turns out that my beloved doggy, Smoky, does not have a simple paw infection,

but rather terminal bone cancer.

And she's had a very good life and has been a very good girl.

And I am going to miss her a lot.

So it's been a lot to handle this week.

And that's just inside my house,

not even getting in the tumultuous world of academia where university funding is being attacked by vindictive and petty billionaires. And no, I'm being serious and not getting into it,

but it is going to impact us all, even if you don't know it yet. And then there's the sad changes happening

to the systems and software that I used to make the show possible. My Macintosh has become unstable

and rather than give in to the corporate forced obsolescence that Apple and Microsoft are trying to

force feed us all, I switched to a Linux box for recording and converting that has been more challenging
