And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night.

An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.

society's elite. Their job was dirty, and they were often looked down upon. They lived outdoors

for long stretches of time, separated from the rest of the community.

In fact, they were sometimes even seen as unreliable or untrustworthy, which that detail was
