My name is Ben Burrell and this is Bob Dylan album by album, a podcast that brings you an in-death look at each Bob Dylan studio recording record by record.

0:08.9

Welcome to the first episode on Bringing It All Back Home. We're going to look at this album over a few episodes. What a great album this is.

0:15.7

For a while it was my favourite Dylan album that was eclipsed somewhat by O Mercy,, which I don't, I think that the rate of classics

0:23.8

is probably higher on bringing it all back home. In fact, it's definitely high on bringing all back home.

0:27.7

But, you know, I just love Omercy, as regular listeners of this podcast will know, and are now

0:32.5

probably shouting at their mobile devices and or laptops to please stop talking about Omercy again.

0:38.4

Bringing it all back home though is a great album, a brilliant record and it's an album that

0:43.6

was my very first purchase of a Bob Dylan record. I've listened to his music ever since I was

0:49.2

young via my dad, kind of being forced to listen to it, if you will. But I got into him when I

0:53.7

was leaving college and going to university and I started to buy his albums my kind of first week

1:00.5

of university and I brought Bring Now Back Home First. I don't know why, maybe because of

1:04.9

Subterranean Homestick Blues and I also liked it's all over now, Baby Blue. I didn't particularly

1:09.2

never song that well, but I really liked the title. i was sort of drawn in by that title um so i think this album is absolutely

1:14.8

wonderful it's one of bob's best it has some of his best songs on it i think it's a really

1:18.3

important album as well so we are dedicating multiple episodes to it and that will start today

1:22.9

with subtraining homesick blues that is a focus of this episode as is maggie's farm two songs that are

1:27.5

intrinsically linked before we go there thank you for your messages um this season so far um I had quite

1:33.2

for messages in the last couple of days uh hi to Matt hi to Kirsty as well and hi to Zachary

1:39.2

um all messaging saying are you not going to do knocked out loaded then and the answer to that is

1:43.9

no I can't face it I don't want to put myself through doing an episode on the album. No, I'm joking.

1:49.0

I have actually recorded an episode of that album. But like I was saying the other week, I had

1:53.0

my tonsils taken out recently. And that episode on Knocked Out Loaded was going to be the first
