And one of his finest I think is the 1954 classic Dial M Murder, in which Ray Milland and Grace Kelly play a married couple,

The marriage has soured somewhat and Sheila has been involved in an affair with a crime fiction writer, but unbeknownst to them.

Tony knows about the affair and persuades his wife to have a night in while he plots for an accomplice an old school friend to enter the house and kill her.
