Summary

Welcome to the "Saturday Morning Golf Stat" from the Hack it Out Golf Podcast. There are fewer attributes more requested by amateur golfers than consistency. What does that mean? In this episode, Lou quizzes Mark and Greg about the range of scores typical of a 10–15 index golfer, along with their "outlier" rounds, in which they score 5 shots better or worse than average. In addition to useful facts that help you have better expectations about your own game, you'll likely feel better about your understanding of how averages work after listening to this podcast. Each of these will be a mini-episode (10-15 minutes long) about an interesting golf stat. We will discuss what you can learn, and most importantly, how you can apply this on the golf course to lower your scores and lower your handicap. Listen on your drive to the golf course or over your Saturday morning coffee! Data is sourced from Arccos Golf. They have over 750 MILLION shots in their database.  Check them out at: https://www.arccosgolf.com/  Use code MARK15 for 15% off! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

So what have you got for us today?

0:46.5

Everybody's on.

0:47.5

Well, first to clarify, everyone's on Greg's side.

0:50.5

So we know that.

0:52.5

Everyone.

0:53.5

So that, there's no question there. So today is about how our scores

0:59.0

can be inconsistent, how we can go out and shoot a low score one day and a high score the next day.

1:06.1

Our schools? Everybody scores. All golfers. All golfers. Yeah, even tour golfers. You know, Greg goes out. I'm sure Greg could look back on every season he played on tour and have a pretty high difference between his best round and his worst round. Not in love wedging to every old Lou. It's just consistent. It's just consistent. Sorry about that. All right. So question number one, if we look at all amateur golfers and we look at their best score during a calendar year versus their worst score during a calendar year. So let's say Craig shot a 60 and his worst score was a 75. That's a 15-shot difference between his best and his worst score.

What is the average difference across all amateur golfers

between their best and their worst score?

1:52.1

How many shots?

1:53.2

That's question number one.

1:55.5

Should you do that one?
