Really pleased to be joined this afternoon by NYU professor Scott Galloway, a prolific author,

commentator, and one of the most interesting people out there. Welcome, Scott. It's always good to be with you, Steve. Thanks for having me. You bet. Scott, you have written a lot of books the first time that I met you, talked about one

that I read that was very impactful for me, the algebra of happiness, notes on the pursuit

of success, love, and meaning.

Talk about that book for a second. Well, thanks for that. That is how we

met. And you do something most men don't have the confidence that you came up to me and

you were very complimentary right out of the gates and said that it had an impact on you. And

most men, including myself, until recently, don't have the confidence to do that.

We see generosity as or affection as or compliments as a zero-sum game, and somehow we say nice

things to other people, especially as men that it takes away from our success or masculinity.

Anyway, in terms of the book, it's not my domain expertise.

I don't have, I'm not certified in social psychology or evolutionary anthropology. What I do have

is I struggle with depression and anger, and I think about it a lot.

And one Sunday night I was on a call with my sister, and my sister just stopped me and said,

why are you so pissed off all the time?

You have less licensed to be pissed off than anybody I know.

And I have blessings the size of Saturn and a mood the size of, you know, something much smaller.

So I decided to do something about it.

The way I attack a problem is I try and learn a lot about it.

I learned enough about it that I want to do a video on it, the video got a few million views.

And my agent said, we should write a book on this.
