And today we are also joined by Dr. Sam Parkinson. Dr. Parkinson is an alumni from Midwestern

Baptist Theological Seminary. He serves as the associate professor of theological studies at Gulf Theological Seminary in the United Arab Emirates.

He's the author of a handful of books.

But the one we are going to be talking about today is to gaze upon God, the beatific vision in doctrine, faith, and practice.

This is a book I read.

I thought it was good on something so neglected that I just had to figure out a way to get

Sam on the show. And so we felt like we bring them in for Revelation 21 and 22 and talk a little bit

about the beatific vision as well. Sam, thanks for jumping on. Yeah. Thanks for having me. Glad to be

here. Yeah, we're excited, man. We're excited to have you on. This season, we've been moving back

and forth between studying the book of Revelation and diving into some of the core doctrines of the Christian faith. And today

we get to do a little bit of both of that as we focus on Revelation 21 and 22 and the

beatific vision. Now, Sam, just to maybe give a little bit of who you are to our audience

beyond the bio, what is the beatific vision?

Why did you write a book on it?

And then we're going to go to Revelation 21

and then we're going to come back to the beatific vision

when we get to chapter 22 in just a moment.

So, but who, why did you write a book on the beatific vision?

Like, and what is it?

Yeah.

So the beatific vision, beatific just means blessed or happy. So the beatific vision is the happy vision, and specifically it is the happy vision of seeing God in heaven.
