Welcome to another episode of Why You Laughing, a history of comedy podcast.

And today, I am pleased to introduce to you Saturday Night Live firing Shane Gillis,

probably the shortest run in S&L history. And one of the most talked about, I guess, certainly in recent years anyways.

And actually, if you think about it, other than Pete Davidson, Shane Gillis might be the most discussed cast member in SNL in the last decade or so.

Maybe Kate McKinnon, you could rival, but never appeared on the show,

which is what we'll be discussing today, and figured since he is hosting his redemption arc,

for most of you watching it this weekend, I figured it was a good time to kind of remember his

firing and what exactly happened, because a lot of people have used Shane as an example that cancel culture doesn't

exist or that it's good for comedians.

I understand that argument.

I don't think it's 100% accurate.

So I figured we could go through.

And unfortunately, because we're recording this, we're having it come out a few days
