Welcome to Shift Meel. My name is Danny Chow. I'm a senior staff writer here at the ringer and we are here at origin Korean barbecue with Grace Joe. Welcome.

Hey here, welcome welcome welcome. Welcome to origin barbecue. This looks like a spread and I am excited to get going because this is the first time we've actually featured a restaurant that doesn't kind of come from the American barbecue tradition.

But I do see some similarities in terms of what

Korean barbecue kind of means to the Korean culture.

I think about like the charcoal and. the we've done is that smoke carries a lot of memories and I think that's something that

origin is really trying to kind of bring forth. Okay yeah I think it's a

time to start eating. Yeah let's get the grill going.

So we also have a couple appetizers on the table.

This is our fresh beef tartar and Kimchi fried rice

and also our cold bucket noodle garlic season and short rib our beef brisket and also the

thin pork belly that we'll dive into later and this is classic Los Angeles style marinated cowbee and

our dukarbee. We'll dive into it as well. So this is our origin special set.

Amazing.

When you think of barbecue, Los Angeles is probably the last city that comes to mind.

But the city of Angels is in the midst of a smoky renaissance.
