Our guest on Australian True Crime today is Brisbane coroner Don Mackenzie who brings classic

Queensland equalities to the chat.

He's down to earth and Wiley with a twinkle in his eye and he clearly is still fascinated

by the law after 30 years in the criminal justice system. Since being appointed to the coroner's court in 2019, Don has investigated over 2,000

reportable deaths, including over 700 suspected suicides, over 500 road fatalities, and over 100 homicides.

In the last 12 months alone he's been called upon to investigate the shooting of a marine biologist

on a crayfish farm and the death of a stuntman while filming a

bliss and so music video. Don joins us today to talk about his job to help us understand

the coronial system and the ways in which it differs from other courts and to explain why he describes his work as therapeutic. If you're only investing for the big wings, it can be easy to get caught up in the height.
