I recorded this podcast when we took the programme up to Lerwick for the tall ships race.

Now Shetland, being an island archipelago, is an ideal place to host all these tall ships

because it's got such a rich maritime heritage itself.

The local museum in Lerwick, for example, has its own boat hall,

along with a collection of boats floating in the nearby dock.

There was one particular boat I'd heard about that I really wanted to see.

It's a replica of something called a six aren, a six-oared boat.

It's sailed by Dr Mark Chivers, a boat-building advisor,

and Brian Wishart, an instructor in traditional sailing.
