Hi everyone and welcome to today's bonus episode where I'm going to make a special announcement.

Before I make our announcement, I wanted to say that I hope you had a wonderful and peaceful holiday

season and that if you didn't get a chance to rest yet that you were able to do so soon.

I'm recording this from snowy and icy Kentucky in the middle of the U.S.

And I'm really thankful that here at EBB, we have a special

tradition called Quiet Week. We're during the holidays, we don't have any meetings, and nobody's

obligated to respond to anybody else on the team. This comes in especially handy when there's also

illness or severe weather going on. We've also found it's much easier to greet the new year with

energy and excitement when we all get a chance to rest first and spend time with friends and family.

This tradition is just one of the ways we try to create our own healthy team culture at

EBB.

Speaking of teams, even though it's usually my voice you hear on this podcast, I don't do this

work alone.

Evidence-based birth is made up of a small but mighty team where there's 14 of us who are

paid, not volunteers, who have the same goal and mission in mind to make birth better for you,

your clients, and the next generation.

Most of us are also birth workers and we know what it's like to be there in challenging

birthroom

situations. That's why we don't focus solely on the evidence, but we also focus on advocacy,

changing cultural norms, and working towards birth justice. This past October, eight of us on

Team EBB were able to get together for a special retreat. And this event was so memorable.
