Hello everyone and welcome to unspooled.

I'm Amy Nicholson and that silence you hear is Paul's year being on location shooting the current third season of Black Monday.

He's on location somewhere and I don't even know where I was trying to send him like a singing candy gram with a scary clown.

And I can't. I have no idea where he is, but he will be back.

And in lieu of having Paul here with us to talk about contact, we thought that we would play actually a special episode that we did live stream over YouTube early last year during the pandemic of a director that we love very much.

We decide that we would take some time and we would celebrate a film called Big by Penny Marshall, a director that we adore.

Penny Marshall I think is one of the absolute greats and I could talk about her all day. So I'm really happy to keep talking about her in this special episode on big that we streamed on YouTube.

It's a very eclectic show. This is not going to be like an unspooled unspooled where we're like, we're going to talk about everything in the order that we do.

This is just anything rules, whatever we thought was really interesting talking about the movie big, which perhaps we should do an episode on in full later on because honestly, I think this movie really, really holds up. I think it is spectacular.

So without any further ado, let's bring on the big.

Yes, hello everybody. Welcome to unspooled. I am Paul Sheer and this is a big experiment. Amy and I do this podcast. It's called unspooled and every week we watch a movie from the AFI top 100 list.

These are supposedly the best movies ever made and Amy and I go through and watch them and we determine whether or not they are actually the best movies ever made and some of them not so great.

I would argue that Tom Hanks is a star of one of them that should not be on that list, which is far as gump. I mean, Amy, you would agree with that, I think.

I would say that Tom Hanks is a star of two of them that should not be on that list. I'm going to throw in saving private Ryan.

Wow, look at that. We have hot takes people. Anyway, I am Paul Sheer, Unite, Nome from shows like the league or human giant or NTSF SD SUV.

Amy, you are one of my favorite critics out there. You are a brilliant writer and we've been doing this for about two years now, right?

Has the time gone by that fast? All because we started talking about Ghostbusters on a different podcast.

Yes, and then we followed it up by having a very intense conversation about Tommy was those the room, which I believe is a film that should be on the AFI top 100 greatest movies of all timeless because when you make a movie that bad,

it needs to be on the list of the best movies. You can't you can't you can't do that. No one else can do it as good as Tommy.

I mean, I would put that on your gravestone Paul Sheer. He died arguing to take saving private Ryan off the AFI top 100 list and replace it with the room.

I stand by it. I mean, it's a lot of words to put on my gravestone, but I stand by it.

Tonight we are talking about big. Why big? I don't know. Tom Hanks obviously has been in the news, but we wanted to do something that we thought would be a fun movie to watch and talk about.
