Behind the knife, the Surgery Podcast, where we take a behind the scenes intimate look at surgery

from leaders in the Knife. I am Shriag Gupta along with our newest

member Michael Voo. I am excited to announce our collaboration with animals of surgical oncology and

society of surgical oncology called the Landmark Series. This is an effort

that was recently published in ASO by Dr Kelly Macmasters and today we are very

excited to launch the series on Behind the Knife Podcast. So who better than the editor himself as our debut guest?

Dr. McMaster joins us today.

He's the professor and chair of the Department of Surgery

at University of Louisville. He's also the director of his multidisciplinary melanoma clinic.

He received his MD PhD from Robert Wood Johnson Medical School,

followed by general surgery residency

at University of Louisville,

surgical oncology fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center.

Dr. McMaster has been the president of SSO, Society of S.S.S.

Society of Surgical Chairs, Southern Surgical Association,

and many more.

In 2019, he was appointed as the director of the American Board of Surgery.

In 2018 he he was named the editor of in chief of Annals of Surgical

Oncology. His lab and his research interests are funded by

NIH in the field of cancer gene therapy, melanoma biomarkers, and more

more recently immunotherapy.

He has authored over 450 peer-reviewed publications
