In today's episode it's all about Stanley Kubrick. Stanley Kubrick was born in New York, and was considered intelligent despite poor grades at school. Hoping that a change of scenery would produce better academic performance, Kubrick's father Jack (a physician) sent him in 1940 to Pasadena, California, to stay with his uncle Martin Perveler. Returning to the Bronx in 1941 for his last year of grammar school, there seemed to be little change in his attitude or his results. Hoping to find something to interest his son, Jack introduced Stanley to chess, with the desired result. Kubrick took to the game passionately, and quickly became a skilled player. 1:04.0	about this. We get to geek out about one of our favorite filmmakers for about an hour, maybe even

1:11.7	one of the most visionary filmmakers of all time? Well, that is a loaded question that we're going

1:21.9	filmmaker who's very mysterious, reclusive. A lot of people say he's a perfectionist, demanding. Obviously,
1:29.9	his 13 films that he directed, 13 movies, they are all completely different. They are all
1:36.5	beautifully shot. They all hold up under repeated viewings to the point where you get something
1:41.6	else out of it every time you watch it. But what does it? Why is
1:45.1	Kubrick your jam? He is my jam for sure because he can tackle any genre. And he does. He
1:51.3	tried all different genres and each one, as you said, was perfection because of the level of
